SAMANTHA SMITH, LMHC

About Me

Creating a safe space for transformation and recovery through empathetic counseling…

Samantha has been practicing counseling in Washington State since 2015, working with children, adolescents, and adults across a wide range of demographics. She is especially attuned to the needs of teenagers (ages 12–19), LGBTQIA+ individuals, Gen Z and Millennial adults, parents of young children and teens, Asian Americans, ethnic minority communities, and those with spiritual or faith-based backgrounds.

Her primary therapeutic modality is Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), which she has been using full-time with clients since 2020. Samantha has received consistent positive feedback for her DBT-based approach, which helps clients gain insight into the challenges they face and supports them in achieving meaningful goals.

Samantha’s counseling style is collaborative and client-centered. While she does not position herself as the expert of anyone’s life, she brings valuable knowledge and tools to support each individual’s unique journey. Sessions may range from deep, reflective dialogue to skill-building and psychoeducation, depending on the client’s needs and preferences.

Her path to becoming a counselor was shaped by formative experiences during adolescence, when she longed for therapeutic support but had only mentors to guide her. Inspired by that gap, Samantha committed to becoming the kind of support she once needed—someone who listens deeply and helps others navigate difficult times. Fittingly, her name means “good listener.”

Samantha also brings a rich multicultural perspective to her practice. As the daughter of a U.S. Air Force veteran, she spent much of her childhood abroad, particularly in Japan, where she developed a deep appreciation for cultural diversity. Her background fosters openness and sensitivity to a wide range of beliefs, traditions, and lived experiences.
